Today’s sermon was on JOY. That is certainly a thought starter. Seems to me that JOYcan be elusive these days. There was a big splash on Facebook about whether “the elderly can be alone all day every day and enjoy it” as I recall. First, not everyone gets the privilege of being “elderly” and secondly most of us did not choose to live alone-our spouses died through no fault of our own. Each of us gets to make the decision “to bloom where we are planted” or not to do so. Just be kind to those “elderly” people who are alone and be kind to everyone else too. Everyone has their own struggles.
As I was headed to church this morning on the Plymouth to Denver black top, I was passed by an all-black sedan with the windows blackened so that one could not see the driver. It also had no license plate or no tag indicting that it had been applied for. That is not legal. The car turned south and stopped at the intersection and did not move as long as I could see it. I immediately jumped to the conclusion that ICE was in the Plymouth area. Since they are so helpful, I assume they heard I will be loading my van this week and have come to help or just maybe they came to look into the large hog farm on that road.
I love my phone even though it is a cheap Samsung. It does more than I know how to ask it to do. It takes wonderful photos which I share daily. If one swipes downward, a page will appear with a flash light and other controls. Only problem is that sometimes I can swipe down 30 times and the page will not open so I downloaded a flashlight app. Do NOT download the flashlight app! It says it comes with adds. It also comes with scams. Every few seconds I would get a ding and a notice that my phone was full and that I needed to download an app to clean it. Called T Mobile in Macomb to see if it was legit. They told me to contact 611. 611 makes it impossible to reach a live person. Turned phone off for hours. No help. Texted a friend who was smart enough to ask Google if it was a scam and it was. So, I uninstalled the flash light and the document app that the scam referred to. Believe nothing you see on your phone and never click on anything you are not sure of.
There have been some really lovely sunsets this week. Some days when it is cloudy or raining, there is still a great sunset. Stopping for a few minutes to watch the sunset and share photos of it with friends brings me JOY.
