We Are Community 268

Again, the fates have not seen to make the life of this “little old lady” boring.  Spent much of the week selecting merchandise and filling 13 banana boxes for 3rd Sunday Market.  Then there is the loading of said boxes and selecting what else rides along like a wonderful gliding horse, quilts, crocks, pictures, advertising signs a hair wreath and more.  Got all this done by Friday evening and hoped to get to bed early as I try to leave by 9 am on Saturday morning.  Plans foiled again.  Puff jumped out the door and she does not come back in willingly.  Propped door open for her to come in and a bat flew in instead!  Bat chasing is an art in itself.  First you lock the cats in the bathroom.  Second you get the butterfly net and the cookie sheet and begin the hunt.  Puff in, bat out by about midnight.  Fireplace resealed just in case.

Got to Bloomington without mishap.  Got set up in good time.  First time ever I have not gone out shopping.  Remember the heat index on Saturday.  Had a great day on Sunday.  Got to visit with many friends including a lady I taught with at Central and a former student Dr. Tom Nielsen and his wife.  Mike Raycraft, show owner, said to tell you all Hi.

This week is the 139th Plymouth Old Settlers celebration.  Sounds like it is going to be bigger and better than ever.  Festivities take place in the newly renovated downtown Plymouth Park.  There have been a lot of improvements since last year.  All the entertainment is free.  You should bring a lawn chair.  The celebration opens at 11 am on Friday and features a carnival, hog roast, entertainment and fireworks.  Plymouth Circle will have a dessert stand with pie, cake, cookies and ice cream. There will be a food stand and flea market booths and more.

Saturday kicks off with a breakfast at the American Legion beginning at 7 am.  There will be biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, ham, eggs, potatoes and drinks for a 10-dollar donation.  The day will also include a parade, a car show, the carnival, a music group which includes Plymouth’s own Gerry Lunt, a fish and chicken dinner, the Jimmy Harris Band and more.

Sunday will have a church service, more entertainment, the carnival, tractor show and a fun filled day for the children.  Know I have missed somethings but you can find a schedule in papers or on line.  Please come to Plymouth and help us celebrate.

Have a good week.  Think the weather is to break and be cooler soon.  Scatter Kindness and Love.  Pray for our country, its people and for the world.
