It was the week of the Christmas Card! Told you I went to Walgreens and had cards made. Normally make 120 but cut down to 100 this year. I keep a list of who I send to each year. I enjoy hearing from friends. I even like those Christmas letters which help me catch up with what your family has been doing all year. You still have time-get those cards in the mail!
Finally got unloaded from the Kelso Black Friday sale and got everything priced. Though prices were strong, got a few really nice items for the store. Also bought a quantity of really lovely glass-Cambridge, Fenton, Imperial etc. If you need a lovely Christmas gift (or a not lovely one too) please check Plymouth Rock Antiques. We have everything!
My phone told me that my rewards on my Sams card were about to expire so made a trip to Quincy on Wednesday evening to shop at Sams and Menards. The nice lady at Sams told me that rewards do not expire so guess it was Just another scam. Anyway, I purchased over eighty dollars’ worth of things and had points let over. Love my Sam’s credit card.
Went to a Christmas party at one of the neighbors on Monday evening. Lovely home and great people and food. Julie Wise and I were hostesses for the Plymouth Circle group this month so we had a Christmas theme too. Fixed way too much food. Would like to thank president, Cindy Smith, for providing games and prizes for everyone. Plymouth Circle owns the Plymouth Circle Community Center which is a great place to hold any events. We had a life remembrance and several family gatherings scheduled there this week. The Old Settlers committee baked cookies there and Santa visited there last week.
On Thursday I was at store addressing cards. Truck honked and I looked up and all was normal. Next time I looked up my car was completely covered in snow and it seemed like it was never going to stop. I used to like snow a lot more when it meant a day off school or fun sledding. Anyway, we got a lot of snow then the temperatures got brutal. Am ready for spring and its still December.
Jim Kerker passed away on Friday. His family are members of Living Faith UMC. Used to see him at Golden Good Shepherd home. Sorry to hear.
Rant. I get between eight and twenty letters asking for donations every day. Some have note pads, some have cards, some have calendars, some have address labels or trinkets. When one gets that many each day, it gets really easy to toss them all. If a group sent a couple a year, that would be fine and they probably would get a donation but every week is too often. I could never use all the address labels and I use the cards to send bills in so they are not just wasted.
As Christmas draws ever nearer remember the reason for the season. It is about Jesus being born into the world. He set the example to be kind to all. Healed the sick, ate with sinners and fed thousands while showing Love to everyone, well most everyone, who crossed His path. You can follow His example-scatter Love and Kindness.
