Today I did something I have not done for years. Stayed in bed and read a book till afternoon! Church canceled, no Rudy’s for chicken. Had to eventually get up to feed me, birds, squirrels, kitties, ferals at store, scrape snow off solar panels and more.
Difficult column to write because there is so much going on in our country and I am so saddened by the needless brutality and loss of life. It is not a coincidence that only blue states are being targeted. Nothing I can say will change closed minds. Pray for our country. Pray for Tim Walz and his state.
Use an electric bed warmer and got a new one. It is Sunbeam but still made in China. The first night I used it, the control started to blink indicating a problem. Ask Google. She said to unplug it and let it reset. Google knows all thank goodness!
Funny story and I apologize to my friends and family. A couple of Christmases ago I bought a potato chip maker. You thinly slice potatoes and place them in a rack and microwave for 3 minutes. They were so good that I bought potato chip makers for several people. Got it out again this week and fired up the micro wave for 3 minutes over and over. The potatoes never got done until they turned black. They were so bad that I put them in the recycle bucket. I used to use red potatoes but had white ones in the frig. Don’t know if it was that or if I did not slice them thin enough but was a total disaster. If I gave you a potato chip maker-sorry!
There was a giant robin at the feeder this week. I’m sure it was surprised when the temperature plummeted. I do what I can by putting out food, water and seed cakes. Even though I have read that the birds will survive without my help, I love to feed them and watch them. I also have a heated pet bowl of water for them and the other furry creatures.
I pay 5 Ameren bills each month. A month ago, either the bills did not arrive in a timely fashion or my checks did not get there on time or both. I had late fees so I called Ameren. She suggested that I go paperless and then I could print the bills on time and send them in. Good idea-right? Could neither view the bills or print them! Called again, got the amounts. Had the service numbers so put the numbers on the checks and sent them in. Still may not get there on time and the account number may not be enough but I tried. Really appreciate Ameren when the temps are below zero and I have lights and heat!
Have not had a lawyer since Rod Clark became a judge. Contacted one in Macomb and met with her this week. Think we will have a good fit and am thankful for legal advice.
