We Are Community for the week of Sept 1st, 2025, by Joyce Steiner

We Are Community 270

Forgot to mention the church service in the Plymouth Park during Old Settlers.  It was conducted by the Plymouth Baptist Church and was much appreciated and well attended.  Also, a big thank you to them for the lunch.  Recognized some of the desserts from our PCCC stand.

This is Labor Day weekend.  It is great because there are so many celebrations to attend but also sad as it signals the end of summer.  I would love fall, the bright crisp days, the beautiful leaves but I know that fall is followed by winter and as we age, we become less winter people.  Went to Argyle Lake for the gas engine show Saturday morning.  There were lots of things to see and a goodly number of flea markets this year.  Found prices rather strong and was not able to buy for store there.  Went to Colchester and always find some things there from friends who set up just west of the park.  Had the fish dinner in Colchester on Friday evening.  Also had my first funnel cake!  Went back to Colchester for the parade on Sunday afternoon, then back to the park but things were winding down at the park by then.

The weather has been phenomenal for all the celebrations.  Several of the sunsets have been magnificent also.  Have been sending sunset and cactus photos to friends.  There was also a new moon this week and it has been very photogenic.

Sal had surgery this week.  Hoped it would slow him down a bit but that has not been the case.  He constantly adores me now.  If I am eating, he is patiently clinging to my leg or trying to jump into my lap or on to the table.  Good thing that the B&B police do not show up at my house.

Picked up some antiques this week from a family who is downsizing.  Got an absolutely amazing oak dental cabinet.  Drop by and see it.

Got a new phone case with a cover because I carry my phone in a pocket and was constantly opening apps unintentionally.  Showed it to my nephew who said “only old people get cases with covers”.  I guess if the shoe fits…I love it however and it has stopped all the unwanted problems with the phone.

This is a subject that I should perhaps avoid but someone needs to very kindly take care of a situation I saw this week and that someone is not any woman or me.  I sit near the door when I go to Hardees in Carthage.  As a result, I can see the counter but also see those entering or leaving the building.  It is quite common for some gentlemen to wear their belts very low on their pants and sometimes we see more than we want to see.  Now imagine a full monty from the back side.  I do not know how one could have their jeans totally below their bottom and still walk but it happened.  If the gentleman had on underwear, it had slid down with the jeans and one had a full view.  I have no problem with the Chippendales because one has a choice of whether to go see them or not, but I did not have the choice whether to see this entire bare bottom while eating at a restaurant.

I hope you have a great week.  Fun watching the progress in the Plymouth Park.  New posts are currently being installed and then the chain will be returned.  Enjoy the wonderful weather and look for the glorious sunsets.  Scatter Kindness and Love.
