Well, I won with Power Ball this week! I matched the power ball and won $4. Enough to pay for the tickets I bought but not enough for the village of small houses I thought might be a good idea.
Put new meaning to the phrase “squeaky clean”-it would seem that I washed and dried a mouse inadvertently.
Labor Day is over and it signals the end to summer for many. Mother Nature surely took it to heart with the cold nights. Understand we are to get back to more normal temps soon however. I turned on my heat because I had a guest and did not think they would appreciate a home that was down in the 60s. Speaking of guest, I have people who are driving the Amish frequently. Normally it works out well. This weekend was “interesting” however. On Friday the doorbell rang before I was awake. Finally found the correct door and an Amish gentleman wanted to secure a room for a driver. Also said they would not be in till midnight. Try to be asleep by midnight most times but knew Macomb had the balloon rally and it would be difficult to find a room so said I would do it. Stayed up until 12:30 am and decided they were not coming and went to bed. Phone rang before I was up again on Sunday morning. Seems they had gotten in at 2 am but wanted a room to sleep today so I said come at 9 as I had to get ready for church. Doorbell rang at 8:30. I was out of shower but that was all. Have decided that there is English time and Amish time.
Just has been an interesting week in many ways. Early in the spring I make reservations for the year in Bloomington for 3rd Sunday Market weekends. Got an email saying that my reservation for September had been cancelled. Called the hotel and told them that I had NOT cancelled my reservation. The Indian owner told me that Geri would call me. Geri is a lovely person and is the reason I stay at that particular hotel. She said that it was a special weekend and that they had raised their rates a great deal and cancelled us who were booked at regular rates. I had no idea that one could just cancel a confirmed reservation on the chance of getting more for a room! To me this is an ethical problem. I never have raised the rates at my B&B just because there was a special event in the area.
I have been hearing that there are a lot of ticks this year. Had not seen any though I spend a lot of time outdoors. Noticed a tiny spot on my leg and thought it was a drop of blood as I often have a scratch. The drop of blood turned out to be attached to my leg and it had legs of its own. I have never seen such a tiny tick. Am keeping watch on the bite as one of my friends has Lyme disease.
Went to the balloon glow at WIU Saturday evening. It was beautiful as always and a perfect night for it.
Some really nice sunsets this week. Some days are cloudy and one thinks there will not be a sunset then God surprises us with a really nice one.
Have a great week. Scatter Kindness and Love.
