Love the Legacy Theater in Carthage. Last night’s show was “The Piano Men” and I expected a show about Elton John and Billy Joel but it was so much more. The show featured music from the 70’s and 80’s. Jim Witter was lead vocalist and played the piano and was accompanied by a wonderful drummer, a bass guitarist and Dave Wiffen on the saxophone and keyboard. The show also featured slides of the era in the back ground. It was just a wonderful show and I hope you got to see it.
The temperature reached 101 degrees on Sunday afternoon when I was baking a cake for the Democratic fish fry held at the Carthage golf course. Thought that must be incorrect but had the same reading on two different thermometers and my car said 99 when I headed to Carthage. The fish fry was well attended and the food was really good. Heard from Paul Davis and Randy Raley who are running against Mary Miller in the primary election. Either seems like a good choice to replace Mary Miller. At the Hancock County Democratic meeting we heard from Kevin Ryan who is running for the seat currently held by Dick Durbin. Really liked what he had to say and if you would like to know more about him, visit his site “runwithkev.com” as it has many of his views and ideas. Think I will have to vote for him in the primary.
This week we saw outrage. Where was that rage when Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot. Where was that rage when people were killed and badly hurt in the Jan 6th attempt to overthrow the government. Where is that rage when we have almost weekly school shootings. All LIVES MATTER.
Attended the Adams dinner on Wednesday evening. It is always very nice and informative. First they feed you, then they offer cash prizes and everyone in attendance receives 25 dollars off their bill. Thank you, Adams.
Had a dealer at the store who was buying things to sell on Etsy. It is hard to believe all the things I have in stock! Purchsed a real cast iron mail box this week. Also have a wonderful oak dental cabinet in my three-building inventory.
Attended the Lowderman Auction on Thursday. They had a lot of really nice items for sale. Some of the items will carry over to their next auction as there was just too much to sell in one day.
The Baldwin family from Plymouth lost a daughter and a grand daughter is a car wreck this week. Please keep the family in your prayers.
There have been some really beautiful sunsets and lovely evenings this week. Hope you had a chance to just stop and enjoy them.
Hate is not acceptable. Teaching hate is also not acceptable. Each person deserves adequate food, fair housing, medical care, respect as a fellow human being and so much more. One’s skin color, religion, place of birth, political leaning and money should not determine how people are treated. We need to do better. Scatter kindness and Love
