We Are Community 307
Plymouth Circle met on Wednesday evening at 6 pm at the PCCC. A pot luck dinner was enjoyed by everyone. We would love to have new members. It is a nice group of people determined to restore and keep the former Methodist church available for use by everyone as a community center. Come and join us on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
Would like to give a thank you to Tillitt of Macomb. When my day-old car was damaged by a flying door in Macomb, Tillitt was recommended to repair the damage. When the check engine light came on in my van, I took it there and they said it needed a new thermostat and replaced it while I waited. As I had to drive to Bloomington this weekend for a show, I wanted my van checked over to see that everything was good to go. They checked it over for me. The people I met there were very nice and I am very pleased with their service. Thank You.
The rest of my week revolved around 3rd Sunday Market. This is the 39th year if I remember correctly. Ben and I did the very first show and we/I have done it every since.
I probably should say “I am sorry” to the lady who offered me $7 for an item priced at $7.95. I just laughed and that was rude. I am normally a nice person but afraid I slipped up on this one. BUT let me explain so maybe she could understand my laughter at her negotiation. I spent four days this week picking items for the show. I loaded twelve banana boxes of items. I then carried them down steps and loaded them into my van. I added furniture, stoneware and more. I then spent $50 on half a tank of gas. I pay for a booth. Have you checked the price of a hotel lately. I spent four hours setting up my booth on Saturday. Got up at 6 am on Sunday and headed for the show. So, when the poor lady asked for a 95-cent discount, I had to laugh.
Noone that I know grows up thinking “I want to be an antique dealer”. We all have or have had other careers. We opened an antique store to save a building. There are as many reasons to sell antiques as people I suspect. Through the many years that Plymouth Rock Antiques has been open, I have mostly loved the business. Some of my best and closest friends were met through antique collecting. Collecting is fun. I can get really excited about stoneware or Victorian hair wreaths. Friends helped me hang quilts today, watched my booth so I could get lunch and the show owner helped me load out. One meets the greatest people in the “antique world”.
Hope you have a good week. The trees are now mostly green. My bald cypress is now getting leaves as I was a bit worried about it. Many flowers are blooming. Spring really is here. Scatter Love and Kindness. If someone is rude to you, they may not have meant to be so just try to understand the situation.
