We Are Community for the week of Oct 19th, 2026, by Joyce Steiner

We Are Community 329

The PCCC will have a free movie night on Friday, October 30.  Doors open at 5 pm.  There will also be free refreshments.  Come on out and enjoy a free movie and meet some of your neighbors.  Also mark your calendars for the annual PCCC bazaar on November 21st.

Often mention the Hy-Vee deli.  They just changed the daily specials.  Wednesday, they have pork chops.  They are huge and really good.  If you want to eat out on Wednesday, I highly suggest Hy-Vee.

The Plymouth Village Board met on the first Wednesday of the month.  The pickle ball court is now done and the lights are installed.  If you are a fan, come on down to Plymouth and enjoy the new court.  It is located just east of the ball park which is also very nice.  Plymouth has a lovely park and a lot of activities going on.  Come visit the antique store and look around at all the improvements.

Frost was predicted so I moved as many of my plants as I could under porch roofs.  My huge cactus has four buds on it currently.  A yellow rose is blooming and many Gerbera daisies are also blooming.  When it gets colder, all will go into the garage and if I water them enough will continue to bloom all winter.  Really love my heated garage with huge windows on the south side.

Fowler Appliance come and fixed my washer and I have not had another flood.  Thank you.

Have I mentioned that Double Chocolate Klondike bars are just wonderful.  Walmart has several flavors but the double chocolate ones are the best in my opinion!

Went to the Mississippi River last Monday evening to take river photos.  I find that quite relaxing and like to share them with friends.  There are so many water lilies where I stop that one cannot see a lot of water but still beautiful.

The Hancock County Historic Society met on Saturday evening.  The program, given by Joyce Buckert, was on Revolutionary War soldiers who are buried in Hancock County.  That is pretty amazing when one considers the dates of the war and that Illinois didn’t even become a state until 1818 so these soldiers and their families moved west after the war into pretty much uncharted territory.

The weather is to be wonderful this week.  Take time to get out and enjoy it.  Fall is lovely but winter seems to follow fall.

Scatter Kindness and love to all.
