Some information bears repeating.
Several years ago, four United Methodists churches merged to make one larger church. That left the Plymouth United Methodist church building empty. It was donated to the Plymouth Circle, a group of ladies who kept the building open for various meetings etc. That particular group of ladies has gotten older and has been joined by others in our community. The building is now called The Plymouth Circle Community Center, PCCC. We have a very dedicated group of volunteers who work very hard to keep everything together and to improve the building for community use. We have installed a new roof, new heating and AC, a new handicapped bathroom, new kitchen floor and much painting and decorating has been done. The building has a chapel suitable for weddings, funerals and more- like movies or a music venue. The back space has a stage, now Santa’s workshop as we prepare for our bazaar, a large area with tables and chairs, which may be put up or taken down, a full kitchen with two stoves, a frig and a freezer, microwave and more. The chapel may be rented for $100 and the meeting room for $50 by calling or texting 309 333 7778.
On Saturday we had our first movie which was free to all. We served free refreshments of popcorn, cookies and drinks. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this event happen. Thanks also to those who came to the movie. There are still some bugs to be worked out, I had trouble hearing the dialog but I am sure we can fix that. Perhaps people could suggest what type movies they would like to see offered. It is a wonderful venue and we need to use it!
If you have driven around the Plymouth Square, you will have noticed that a book mural is being created on the south wall of the library. It is fun to watch the progress. I think night time sketching work is done and now daytime painting is progressing.
Wendys now had Frosties for one dollar! Love them.
One of the things I like best about being in the antique business is the people I meet. Had a really nice young couple from Iowa in this week who purchased some uranium glass which is popular right now. They returned soon to also purchase a pink depression pitcher which they had shown a photo of and were requested to come back and buy it. Nice to meet you.
Had lunch with my nephews, Roger, Curtis and Calvin, at K D’s Coop on Sunday. Best macaroni and cheese ever. Think it is so nice of the owners to provide desserts which can even be taken home. Thank you.
Plymouth Old Settlers is coming up the last weekend of the month. The food is great, the entertainment free and there will be a carnival too. There will also be venders in the park and the PCCC gang will have an ice cream and dessert stand.
