3rd Sunday Market in Bloomington returned after no June or July show due to a concert and the fair. Spent most of the week selecting things to fill 12 banana boxes and small furniture, quilts, and other smalls to take. One can never predict what is going to sell so I just take a large variety of things.
Like to leave Plymouth by 9 am and arrive in Bloomington a bit before noon. Knew it was going to be an interesting weekend when my phone gave me an emergency alert about 15 miles from Bloomington. The alert said to stay off the roads unless you were fleeing the area. Yes really! In cases like this, there is not much else to do but keep going and say a few prayers.
Got to the fairgrounds and all looked ok. Had driven through rain but nothing bad. Got right to the door and got unloaded and set up which takes a bit of time and energy. Sold a few things to other dealers on Saturday.
Even though the weather was not great, there was a large crowd. Nice to see many friends as many of us do the show regularly and many of the same customers return to the show.
Mid afternoon a young lady came into my booth with tears in her eyes. I was not sure what I had done to cause this reaction. She asked if she could take my photo. I agreed. She then explained that I looked exactly like her grandmother who had passed away this year. Such a sweet event! There are just so many really nice people in the world. It is such a shame that a few awful people make all the news and cause us so much distress.
Friends drifted in and out of the booth all day. There were so many from my church, Living Faith, there that I half expected Pastor Dan to walk into the building to check on us.
Had some interesting sales. Sent a Western Stoneware bear paw crock to Texas, a really cute Sun Bonnet Sue quilt home with a quilter and with the help from my friends a hand carved bear will be heading to Minnesota.
The pickle ball court looks like it is almost done in Plymouth. The mural on the library wall is progressing. Plymouth is getting ready for Old Settlers the last weekend of August. Plan to come and join us.
It is so important to scatter Kindness and Love in today’s world, please do so. Most of the news is upsetting. The weather has been awful with so many storms and so much damage to trees, homes, businesses and a lot of flooding also causing a great deal of damage to property and roads. I met many utility trucks on the road and a parking lot in Bloomington was filled with them. A local tree service truck was parked at our hotel. Sending love and hopes for a better week to all.
