A reminder that the Collectors of Illinois Pottery and Stoneware Swap Meet will be held this Saturday, August 1st, from 8 to noon on the east side of Chandler Park in Macomb. Everything is free. Come and join us to view local pottery, get an appraisal or take home a few pieces for your collection.
Birthday week continues. Birthday is actually on the 23rd but had birthday lunch last Sunday and dinner on 22nd. Then the Marine Bank had a Customer Appreciation Picnic on the 23rd at Lake Hill Winery. That was very nice and the food was great. Facebook tells users when your birth date is so one gets lots of greetings from Facebook users. Hotel Nauvoo always gave one a cup cake for their birthday so one of my friends not only took me to dinner but brought me a cup cake with a yellow candle- my favorite color. Put a photo of the cupcake on my feed and got more happy birthday wishes. Just a big thank you to all who remembered my special day.
Aldi had huge lemons so bought a bag and have been making my own lemonade shake ups. Yummy.
Plymouth and Augusta were both hit by a bad storm on Monday evening. I really don’t like storms. I often sit in front of the TV and watch the weather reports with a phone and a NOAA weather radio. Monday the power was out for over six hours so that was not possible. Thanks to all the people who helped open roads in Plymouth and helped clear up the tree damage.
As I age finding it harder to just get around. Have thought that Tai Chi sounded like a great idea. To my delight, there was an ad in the Community News Brief for a class. It is to be held in Macomb at the 4H Center on Mondays and Wednesdays in the morning and lasting for over two months. Looked up the website and signed up. At the end of the sign up, it noted that the cost was 0. Now that is even better than hoped for.
I try very hard to get my ferals spayed or neutered. Had one female captured all winter and an appointment for her to be spayed this week along with two others. When the day finally arrived, could not catch her, so only two went to vet. Decided to just let her be feral again. She went back to antique store where she lived before.
I get very discouraged watching the destruction of Washington D C. Then I read about the loss of protection for our national parks, our wild life, our water sheds and so much more. Will it stop before our only earth is at the tipping point. It is just not right to destroy our planet and its limited resources for profit for a few while so many struggle for even basic necessities.
There are good things happening too however. There was a benefit at Pop A Top yesterday and there was a huge crowd. Perhaps we cannot control Washington be we can do positive things to help our neighbors and our communities.
Scatter Kindness and Love. Small acts of kindness are as important as huge gestures and each of us can do a small act of kindness.
