Let your first thought be Love.
Last week, I sat down at my computer to write this column. When I turned on the computer, nothing happened. Checked all the plugs and power strips and still nothing happened. Fired up my laptop to find the screen had been locked and as one cannot type a column one letter at a time on a phone, there was no column. Thank you to those who reached out to me to ask if I was ok. And thanks to Adams, I now have a new computer.
When Rev. Dan’s first message at Living faith was “Let your first thought be Love”, I knew our new minister was a good fit for our churches in Bowen and Carthage. Fits right in with my message of “Scattering Kindness and Love” and “Love not Hate Makes America Great”.
Twenty-three years ago now, my husband and I retired and things seemed fine however I woke to find him unresponsive and he passed with no warning. Rev. Dan’s theme was that if someone does not respond as expected, cut them some slack and respond with love and not think that they do not care about you or have forgotten you. When I do not hear from someone, I tend to think that something unexpected has happened to them as a result of my experience and reach out to see if things are OK. Don’t assume, reach out with Love. Sometimes we can jump to very wrong conclusions.
The Collectors of Illinois and Pottery and Stoneware had a swap meet at Chandler Park on August 2nd. As the persons who had taken care of it in the past, moved away and as I live close to Macomb, I took over making the arrangements for the event. It is always interesting to do something for the first time. There were event papers to be filled out, insurance to be purchased, police to be contacted to put up barricades, flyers and a banner to be made and more. Farmers Market is the same day and then a 3 on 3 basketball tournament also was put on the same day. Everything went great! Farmers Market had west side, we had east side and basketball had south side of the park. The weather was perfect. We had a lot of foot traffic. Thanks for all the cooperation to make it a great day.
The Hancock County Democrats met on Monday evening. There are people running for the seat which Mary Miller now holds-good news.
Weather has been interesting if you like heat. Can’t keep up with the weeds in my yard with all the rain. The full Sturgeon moon was incredible this week. Spent a good bit of time getting photos of it on Friday evening. I have night blooming cactus and they have been blooming at the same time. Had 4 in bloom this week. They only bloom one night and the fragrance is wonderful. Smelled them while out photographing the moon and that is how I knew they were blooming.
I hope you have a great week. A bit of rain would be nice without the amount currently causing the flood warnings. If someone disappoints you this week, respond with love and do not jump to conclusions. Scatter Kindness and Love.
