Mentioned Tai Chi class last week. Have survived three without toppling over however I am often going the opposite direction of the rest of the class or on the wrong foot. Part of the class is getting to know each other and social interaction. One gentleman asked if I had had a can of soup fall on my foot so I knew that he reads this column. Thank You. Another lady drives from Keokuk to attend. Hopefully I will become more stable on my feet as a result of trying!
All my bedrooms are on the second floor, so it seemed logical to also put the laundry room on the second floor. It is between my bedroom and the bath so I can toss in laundry on the way to the bathroom. Walked by the laundry room and heard water running which is not good. The washer was overflowing and had been for a while. Not as bad as it could have been as the washer sits in a tray which conducts the water to the basement in emergency situations. Sure enough, went to the basement and the floor was covered in water and there was just a bit on the floor in the laundry room. Asked users of Facebook who they would recommend for appliance repair. One store was recommended far more than any other so called them. A week before they could come out. Took the clothes out of the water and dried them on a bench on the patio. Dipped about half a washer of water out. Hopefully the washer can be repaired as would hate to drag a new washer up my spiral staircase.
I have kitties in a garden shed in the back yard. Was heading out to feed them when I hear a loud thud. Turns out a rather large branch had fallen just in front of the house. Thank goodness I was not 30 seconds sooner. Thank you, God.
The rest of the week has been devoted to the Spoon River Drive. We took over one load on Friday evening and set up the tables in the gym of the Red Brick School in Smithfield. This Friday I took over another load and put all the things out on the tables and arranged the furniture and quilts. Up way too early on Saturday and Sunday to try to be there by eight AM as we officially open at nine. Great day on the first day, Saturday, October 3rd. Brought over more things for Sunday. Really nice group of people in the school gym and a great selection of merchandise. I have antiques, there is jewelry, art and greeting cards, plants, fudge, candy, clothing, crafts and more. And of course, the main attraction -food! Chicken and noodle dinners, pie, cake, apple dumplings and more. One can eat their way through the drive if they don’t want to shop. Come see use on the 10th and 11th if you didn’t make it this weekend. Did I mention that coconut cream pie makes an excellent breakfast.
East of Macomb, the windmills are nearing competition. Love to see them. Appreciate that they will make us less dependent on fossil fuels which pollute our earth.
Hope you had a good week. Good to see the sunshine and that the rain has stopped for a while so the farmers can get into the fields for the harvest. Scatter Kindness and Love!
