Tonight’s full moon is called the snow moon. Seems appropriate since there is both snow on the ground and it is currently snowing. My mood has lightened as the temperature has risen today.
Soup wars. I find that I like both Campbells and Progresso soups so buy several of them from time to time. I am observing “soup wars” in Macomb. I shop Aldi, Walmart and Hy-Vee. Prices used to be consistent at all three stores at 1.98. Then all three stores went to 2.48. Not long ago all three stores went back to 1.98 but that didn’t last long. Aldi is still at 1.98 -at least they were on Monday. Hy-Vee was at 2.99! Walmart had it from 1.98 to 2.48 and 2.68. Very interesting to watch. Kind of like gas prices in Macomb which are normally all the same, then once in a while there will be as much as 30 cents difference per gallon.
Noticed that the Allegra sign was down and that there was a for sale sign on the property. Over the years have had several things printed there such as letter heads, my highway signs, posters for the stoneware group and more. Will miss them.
Unpleasant news this week. Have watched the news with much unease. In my opinion it is awful to obviously pick on blue states and to call people by degrading names just because you can and get away with it. Murder used to be frowned upon and not tried to be justified. Who would have ever thought some Americans would stoop so low. Pray for those being discriminated against and for our country.
Not many people at the store this week due to the extremely low temperatures. Spent some time running a kitty to the vet and then picking him up and then taking in some samples. He seems to be fine and is playing “kitten” with another youngster in the garage. Got them a heated kitty house and they spend more time on the roof than inside. Cute anyway.
Have eaten several meals at Hy-Vee this week. There are lots of things I like about the store. One of them is that every time I stop there someone stops to tell me that they read this column and how much they like it. It is very rewarding to receive compliments. Thanks so much. The score still stands at two complaints and hundreds of nice comments-not bad!
My Bible says “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God”. It also tells us to “love our neighbor as ourself”. It is my understanding that one is not supposed to pick and choose what is convenient for them or to pick out some phrases to uphold and to ignore others which are just not convenient. It is time for all of us to do those simple loving things! My respect for the thousands and thousands of people who have taken to the streets to protect the rights of others recently.
Have a good week. Happy February! Scatter Kindness and Love to ALL.
