We Are Community 310
We watch other small towns slowly disintegrate but am very happy with many things going on in Plymouth. Plymouth got a grant to upgrade the park and we have a Metzger Trust also to improve the town. Not as many things were done with the grant as I had hoped but we have a walking path, new playground equipment, security cameras, the stage was rebuilt, a flower bed, a fountain and bench and new posts and chain around the park. The park looks great and is used a lot.
Other improvements going on in our small town are sidewalks, new street signs and a pickle ball court is under construction. There is also a new house going up by the ball park and I sold the lot next to the PCCC and have high hopes that the house on the property will be restored. There is a lot of clean up that could be done, too many junk cars etc. but there are positive things happening in Plymouth!
When I had Maine Coon kitties, they had winter and summer quarters. Now I have some kitties with appointments for spaying so they cannot be free right now. Moved three of them to summer quarters-a garden shed with screened in front porch. I have one feral who is still in winter quarters as she will not let me catch her to move her. If she only understood that I am trying to help her and move her to a better home until she can be free again. Sometimes we are like kitties and do not understand that someone is just trying to help.
I love flowers. I love yellow flowers the most. I did not have a yellow rose and was happy to find them at Aldi this week. Planted it is a big tub so that I can give it good care and hopefully it will thrive. Aldi also had great white peaches and nectarines this week.
Think that sometimes we do not realize how important we are to each other in a small town. People come to my store while they are having their dogs groomed. I had several rooms at the B&B this week because something was going on in the Amish community. I had two ladies stop by the store and book two rooms. I sent them to the restaurant and it was closed so they went to Macomb to eat and decided to stay in Macomb. Did not give me a chance to tell them that there was a food truck on the Plymouth Square. When Pop A Top has an event, people sometimes stop in the store. I had customers from the Chicago area come to shop my store and they ate at the local restaurant. We used to have a Business Association where we all worked together for the good of the community, we need to do that again to promote each other.
Still cutting brush and volunteer trees on my lots. They fight back and sometimes my arms show that the brush won the battle. Never plant trees of heaven and am not sure bamboo is a good idea either nor is trumpet vine as it can travel great distances and pop up everywhere.
Carol Rankin spoke at Living Faith today and the emphasized verse was “What does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” I am very upset with the path some in our country are on. There is little justice for many, there is no kindness for those who may not look like you, be female, be from another country, worship at a different church etc. We need to do better. We need to scatter Kindness and Love to all not just to straight white men.
