We Are Community for the week of April 14th, 2025, by Joyce Steiner

We Are Community 250

Feel that we are lucky to have the Legacy Theater in Carthage which brings some outstanding shows to the area.  Learned this week that there is another theater in the area.  It is in Rushville at the high school and is new and very nice.  When I saw that Chris Vallillo was going to be performing there, wanted to attend.  On Saturday evening, Chris performed the musical Forgottonia.  He was backed up by Don Stiernberg on the Mandolin and Marc Edelstein on the bass.  The show had a backdrop of photos by Tim Schroll.  Immediately recognized photos of the round barn by Argyle Lake and the hotel at Vishnu Springs.  All the songs were written by Chris about the area in which we live.  Though I have seen Chris preform before, this was special as it was about the area where we live and all the songs were written by Chris.  Thank you gentlemen.  It was a much-appreciated great evening.

Pretty much a normal week otherwise.  Seems like I did a lot of bank work this week.  Always check to see who has the highest rate of interest on CD’s and renew them accordingly.  Renewed one for the church and a couple for me in Augusta.  Everyone there is always very helpful and that is appreciated because sometimes I think I can ask a lot of questions.

Got in a couple of bike rides this week and several days of nice sunset photos.  My peach trees are still in full bloom and have noticed absolutely no bees working the blossoms plus we had one nigh of temperatures well below freezing so don’t know if it will be a second year with no peaches.  Ordered some things from a catalog.  Called to make the order as that was recommended.  The gentleman on the phone tried to upsell me a program of free shipping and more.  Asked the price and it was 19.95 per month which was more than the shipping cost so I said NO.  He tried again and again until I finally told him that I was about to cancel the whole order.  They must be paid well to upsell customers.

A gentleman from Iowa had heard that I carry lamp parts so he visited the store and found that Plymouth Rock does indeed have a lot of lamp parts.  He was pleased and so was I.  Finally got the store to balance when I figured out that I had taken 71 cents for 11 cents.  With my writing that was easy enough to mistake.

Plymouth Circle met on Wednesday evening and the owner of Little Creek Alpacas spoke to our group.  She was great and we invited her to join our group which she did.  We are happy to welcome anyone who is interested in supporting Plymouth and especially the PCCC.  We meet the 2nd Wednesday at 6 pm at the PCCC.  Please come and join us.

Thursday, Plymouth had hail.  Ran Ruby home as quickly as I could.  By the time I got her into the garage and walked back uptown, it had quit.  The hail was small and wet so didn’t see and dents on the car.

Hope you enjoyed the 80-degree temperature today.  I know I did.  Ready to have warm weather and be able to work in the yard.

Have a good week.  Scatter kindness and Love.
