We Are Community 235
Tis the season on the New Year 2025. I wonder what it holds in store for each of us. Hopefully it will be good things and happiness but if that is not the case, may we find the strength to carry on.
We celebrated Christmas this past week. Hope you celebrated the birth of the Christ child. Hope also that you have family and or friends that you were able to spend time with. The gift of time spent with loved ones is one of the best gifts one can receive.
Christmas Eve, I opened the store for three hours. A friend from Canada stopped by and I was glad to see him as he often comments on my column. His daughter lives in Plymouth. Imagine “We Are Community” even has readers in another country!
Fixed dinner for a friend on Christmas Eve. The Christmas Eve group used to be larger but life goes on for some of us. We Attended the Christmas Eve service at Living Faith. There was a nice crowd for the service. Living Faith has two special offerings a year for missions. We support a local, a regional and a national or world-wide cause on Easter and Christmas. On Christmas we have “a march to the manger” and mission gifts are put in a small manger. There are two mangers, one in the front of the church with the communion elements and one in the middle of the church with the communion elements. I am one of the persons who counts the offering and we could not locate the manger from the middle of the church. On the fourth attempt to locate it, it was found in the kitchen with communion cups in it!
Spent most of Christmas day with the six member Steiner crew and two others. It is so nice to just stop and to actually talk with family and friends. Also good to enjoy eating together. Nice day. When I got home, watched a Hallmark movie with my B&B guest.
I always try to attend church on Sunday but the call of a live auction was just too great today. Kyle Kelso has few live antique auctions and one was today. The photos of the auction items showed many wonderful things that I could use for my store. It was a vey interesting day. Many great items but when one is buying for resale, one has to watch prices. Great pieces of stoneware and some outstanding primitives and some very outstanding prices were realized. My van is not full! Also love auctions as it “is old home week” for me as there are many dealers I do shows with as well as friends also attending the auctions.
It has been cloudy and foggy for days. I need sun! Seems like everyone has the sniffles of some sort. I think the Plymouth Baptist church even called off services today to let everyone recuperate.
Please continue to pray for the Maloney family. Monica is in the hospital in Peoria. A bank account has been started at the Augusta Bank for Monica and Jason Maloney and anyone can contribute to it. They own and run Rudy’s Restaurant in Augusta. I think one can also donate at Rudy’s or the Stager Inn which is connected to Rudy’s.
I pray that each of you has a new start in the New Year. If there are things in your life that you need to fix, the start of a new year is a good time to do that. I send Love and hope for all the best in the coming year. Please pray for those in need of prayer. Please be kind to all persons including yourself. Scatter Kindness and Love.
