We Are Community for the week of July 13th, 2026, by Joyce Steiner

We Are Community 315

As I have mentioned, I love my cell phone.  I probably use it a bit too much.  I also realize just how amazing it is. The world of information is available at our finger tips.  I am also very lucky to have been a teacher and as such to have affordable insurance.  My insurance company offers a yearly in home visit.  When they notified me, they had no more in home visits but could set me up with a virtual visit.  I agreed to try it as thought I could figure out how to do it.  All week, I got notices of when and how to connect.  I received instructions on what information to have.  Came home from store.  Climbed on bed with information and pen and paper and waited.  Thirty minutes after the visit was to begin, I called.  Wait longer.  I did.  Nothing.  An hour after the virtual appointment was to have taken place, I called for the third time.  Oh so sorry-we can make you another virtual appointment.  Um-no.

You may have noticed that the south side of the Plymouth library has been painted white. I now know that a mural is going to be painted on that wall because one of my friends is doing it.  The plans are great.  Can’t wait to see the finished product.  Watched and helped a bit with preliminary sketches on Saturday evening.

Last weeks Sunday School lesson was on names.  The bulletin and the sermon were also on names.  This week, the Sunday School lesson was on “and the seventh day is for rest”.  Took it to heart and had a long Sunday afternoon nap!

Big thanks to Toyota care for having two years of free service.  Another big thanks to our local bank.  They are great to work with and free checks is really a great perk when one has several accounts.  Thanks!

Have had some health issues.  When I stopped at the sewing machine store in Macomb, the owner came out and carried in my machine.  When I had lots to carry in from a meeting this week, a neighbor offered to carry in things for me.  Can’t tell you how much these kindnesses are appreciated.

For years now, I have tried to get milk weeds started on my property.  Now have three batches.  I also have a Monarch larva on at least one.  Great news.  Noticed there are two milk weed plants by library also.  Hope they will be allowed to grow.

Yummy tip of the week.  Aldi cranberry chicken salad is great on cinnamon raisin swirl bread.  Bread is light and does not cover up flavor of chicken salad.

Not to be crabby but-is anyone else bothered by the fact that when one shops at Walmart, one is often confronted by two people trying to switch you to a different phone plan or a different electrical supplier.  I have enough of that on phone or computer and do not need it when I am shopping.

Have a great week.  Remember to rest.  Scatter Kindness and Love.
