We Are community 246
I just finished off a carton of Edy’s ice cream before I sat down at the computer. Somehow, I suspect several of you know what this means! There have been times this week when it has been difficult to “crawl out from under the rug”. For those of you who don’t know what that means, it means one is feeling pretty low. Since I try to keep this column positive, I also know that we have had a wonderful week compared to so many.
The big news this week was the storms which raced through our area on Friday evening. I spent a few hours in front of the TV watching the progress of the storms. Several lives were lost in Missouri. I understand that there was storm damage near Carthage. Also talked to Joy Swearington who said the storm hit during the performance at the Legacy Theater. The performance was able to continue with battery back up and lighting from the fire department. Just glad that all went well and that no one was hurt in the Carthage area as far as I know. It is spring, we can expect storms, but they still scare me.
Spring also brings flowers. Some crocuses have bloomed and I have a daffodil blooming and many more budded. My Lenten roses are also budded and hyacinths and tulips are up. Love spring flowers. Also, a lot of robins are here.
Busy week. Opened the ends of the fish ponds and saw at least one live fish that made it through the winter. Hopefully there are more. Attended a program on Camp Ellis on Thursday evening. There were many there who knew a lot about Camp Ellis who added to the program. Also worked in a steak dinner at Hy-Vee and a long evening in front of the garage. Tried my first outdoor bike ride of the spring but didn’t work out well as one leg is complaining about something.
The reason for hours in front of the garage was the lunar eclipse. As this does not happen often and as the evening was perfect, I decided to go for it. My trusty phone and I parked on the drive and watched the eclipse from beginning to total. Was very interesting and I got some nice photos. Glad we were able to see it.
The Plymouth Circle chicken and noodle fund raiser is this Saturday, March 22nd beginning at 4:30 at the PCCC. There will be chicken and noodles, potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, rolls and dessert all for a free will donation. Please join us for fellowship and food.
Read a distressing article concerning reading and math prowess. Seems less than 40% of us have read a book in the last year. My book stacks are tall enough to be used as end tables. Also, that about 34% are very low in math skills. Is it normal to find balancing several accounts to actually be fun and fulfilling when they all balance. I have no musical talent but get a kick out of numbers.
Hope to be able to ride my bike more to elevate mood. Hope you did not have storm damage. Also hope that today’s snow did not hurt the spring flowers. May you have a good week and may you not only scatter Kindness and Love but may you receive them also.
