We Are Community for the week of July 29th, 2024, by Joyce Steiner

We Are Community 213

Pat Rash of Plymouth passed away on Thursday.  She was a part of our women’s group.  She was always such a lively and positive person.  She will be very missed in our small town.

Got word that Jim White also passed away.  His parents, Forrest and Mildred White, lived in Plymouth though their house has been torn down now.

Has been a tough week for so many people.  Our sympathy to all friends and family of these two individuals.

Tuesday was my birthday.  Have succeeded in making it a week-long celebration.  Shared cake and strawberries with a fellow celebrant.  Got lots of greetings on Facebook and even got some real birthday cards as well as phone calls and texts, all of which I appreciated very much. Went to the Hotel Nauvoo on Friday evening with a friend who takes me there for my birthday and I return the favor on theirs.  Thanks to each of you who helped me celebrate.

A lady on Facebook was using a good platter and her husband told her to put it away so that it would not get broken.  As an antiques dealer, I suggested she use it and enjoy it.  So many people save the good dishes, the pretty sweater, the nice perfume etc.  Then one day it goes on their estate sale, is given to Goodwill or just goes in a dumpster.  Use your nice things and enjoy them.

Attended the Marine Bank dinner at the lake Hill Winery on Thursday evening.  Of course, I turned one road too early and toured the lake area first.  Second time I have toured the lake area recently.  Really should pay more attention to road signs rather then just thinking I know where I am going.  Thanks to the banks for the great food and entertainment.  It was appreciated.

Taught JD Hoosier, am a friend of JD Miller, seriously dated John Danial Blattenberger and now we have another JD, JD Vance.  Though I don’t know much about him, I do know that he should be smarter than to criticize childless women as just a person with a cat.  You may think “lol” stands for laughing out loud but I am here to tell you that it can also stand for “little old ladies”.  Yes, we do love kitties.  Even if we have children they eventually leave home.  For many of us our husbands pass before we do.  You might be surprised to find just how much company a loving pet can be especially a loving kitty. Yes, lol like kitties and I suspect that most of us also vote, especially when women’s rights are being taken away.

The Paris Olympics started this week.  I love the Olympics.  Only trouble is finding time to sit down and watch them during the summer.  Big fuss over one of the opening scenes which I missed but if people bothered to educate themselves, it would not have been a problem.  Instead of not being educated on world history and jumping to unfounded conclusions, some of us need to learn a bit of history before we become hateful over what we do not understand.

It has been a very full day and I need to head upstairs so will wish you the very best for the coming week and the beginning of a new month.  Scatter Kindness and Love and educate yourself before jumping to unfounded conclusions.
