We Are Community for the week of Sept 16th, 2024, by Joyce Steiner

We Are Community 220

Eventful week.  Began Monday at Moore Tires in Macomb where I got the van aligned and two new tires on the front.  Have not had to deal with this for a very long time and did not realize van was out of alignment.  The front tires had very few miles on them.  Live and learn!  Also, remet a young man named Steiner who I met last at US Cellular.  Fun to meet someone with same last name as family is so small.

Got to ride my bike a couple of times this week and photograph lovely sunsets.  One of the readings in my devotions this week was from Psalm 19 which includes “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”  When one sees some of the glorious sunsets, this verse surely comes to mind.

Found Tuesday’s debate interesting.  Feel sorry for the Ohio city which was claimed to have pets being eaten by immigrants.  One needs to remember many things said are just not true.  One also needs to remember that unless you are full blooded Native American, that you too are either an immigrant or the descendent of one!  Immigrant is NOT a bad word.

Trump signs live in the yards around me for years.  Strange how Harris signs are destroyed almost immediately.  Childish to say the least.

Wednesday, Adams provided dinner for all their customers.  They also gave away several nice prizes.  Always interesting to see the number of people who come for the meal and then leave and as one has to be present for a prize, they miss out on their winnings.  Adams has also been giving capital credits as bill credit and I understand that another round will come in October.  There was mention that some of the government funding has been challenged and if the challenge is upheld, Adams will be very seriously affected.  Thank you, Adams, for being on the cutting edge of technology and such a great company.

Loaded all week for 3rd Sunday Market and took off on Saturday.  Got set up and wandered out to the field and bought a flower garden quilt.  Good crowd, decent show.  Will unload this load for Spoon River at Smithfield and add more loads as time comes nearer.

Gas is currently 3.19 in Macomb and that is far cheaper than anywhere between here and Bloomington.

Mentioned that my kitty feeding house had been stolen.  It has been replaced by a kind friend and another was offered.  Thank You.

Think I am going to need someone to cover the store for me a few days in October.  If you might be interested in a helping, please let me know.  I love “working” at the antique store, meeting people, perhaps helping educate customers and more.  You also get to feed and be entertained some by my ferals.  Lion, my old fluffy male kitty, has tamed for me and now expects to be petted daily.

Long weekend.  Please pray for the Baldwin family as Curtis was involved in a serious accident on Saturday.  There are many others in our area who also need prayer. Scatter Kindness and Love.
